It was a dark and stormy night

It was a dark and stormy night, and I was having a sleepover with my three best friends Nell, Hayley, and Emma. We were all in Nell and Hayley’s basement playing our Nintendos when lightning flashed, thunder cracked, and the power went out. For a moment it was silent. “I’m really scared you guys, what should we do?”, Nell questioned. “Let’s just keep playing our nintendos”, piped Emma. But after about twenty minutes, Nell heard banging at the front door. We all sat in silence for several heartbeats. The banging noise sounded again, and Nell picked up her cell phone. “I’m going to call mom” Nell exclaimed. “Chill Nell, somebody’s at our door, no need to get worried” Hayley reassured her. “I’ll go and see who’s here”, Hayley suggested. “I’ll come with you”, Jessie said.

When Jessie and Hayley opened the front door, they couldn’t believe what they saw. Five feet away, stood a little girl with blood trickling down her face. “Can I come in?” asked the helpless girl. All of a sudden Hayley slammed the door in the girl’s face. “Hayley?!?”, Jessie exclaimed. “Sorry, I got scared”, Hayley replied. As Jessie reached for the doorknob, Hayley immediately slapped Jessie’s hand. “ Let’s look out the front window to see if she’s still here”, explained Hayley. Sure enough, the little girl was still there. In a single heartbeat Hayley took off towards the basement. Jessie followed close behind, but tripped on Nell and Hayley’s Halloween spider decoration. “Ahhhhhhhhh!”, exclaimed Jessie. Jessie was deathly afraid of those things. Once again there was banging at the front door and Jessie tried to quicken her pace to catch up to Hayley .By the time Jessie came downstairs Hayley had told the story of what had happened. “ I tried to call mom, but she didn’t pick up.”, Nell shouted.

"What do we do now?”, Emma asked. “We’re all going to die; I have to get out of here, run away to somewhere safe, where there are not little girls with blood on their faces, asking to come in. Next thing you know, they are going to hold us hostage and kill us!!”, Hayley shouted through rapid breaths. “Hayley stop spazzing out!”, Jessie ordered. Emma ran upstairs to take a look, and to see what time it was. After about 15 minutes, Emma hadn’t returned. Nell called Emma’s name three times, but no answer came. Jessie was about to run and find Emma, but quickly Hayley and Nell took Jessie’s arms and pulled her back. “We can’t risk you Jessie!”, exclaimed Hayley. “Well are we just going to sit around, and let Emma die, or are we going to try to save her?”, Jessie questioned.

Within a heartbeat Nell and Hayley agreed with Jessie, and they all ran upstairs. When Emma was no where in sight, Nell started crying like a newborn baby. When Nell, said she forgot her cell phone downstairs, she raced back downstairs to grab it. But by the time Nell ran back upstairs, Jessie and Hayley were no where in sight. When Nell rounded the corner, she couldn’t believe what she saw. Jessie, Hayley, and Emma were all lying on the ground, dead. Before Nell could think about what she saw, something pierced her back with something sharp. Nell fell to the ground and briefly saw a blurry shadow loom over her, and disappear as quickly as it had appeared. People still say that when you pass Nell and Hayley’s house you can still hear the four girls laughing. Scientists still haven’t found the four bodies, but they still remain where they were killed, 40 years ago…
